Liturgy and the Spiritual Life
Summer School: Monday 10th - Thursday 13th August 2015
The Liturgy is a privileged place where God meets us, a place where, in Christ, we enter a transcendent world. Liturgy changes people and so understanding its effects is essential for the new evangelization. Liturgy, ‘most of all in the divine sacrifice of the Eucharist, is the outstanding means whereby the faithful may express in their lives, and manifest to others, the mystery of Christ and the real nature of the true Church.’ (SC2)
Registration begins on the Monday afternoon so that participants can settle into their rooms before the introductory talk on why participate in the Liturgy of the Hours. Everyone then attends Vespers with the Benedictine community, followed by the evening meal and a second introductory session.
Over the next two days there will be Holy Mass, talks, seminars, time for prayer and discussion, and a practice session for participants to sing Vespers themselves. The Summer School concludes on the Thursday morning at lunchtime.
Cost: £325 including full board and lodging at Buckfast Abbey, or £60 per day (including refreshments and lunch). There is also a non-refundable £20 registration fee payable upon your application.
There is a reduction for those who wish to participate in two Summer Schools. The cost for two Summer Schools is £575. This price does not include the £20 registration fee for each of the Summer Schools.
The main speakers will be Fr Guy Nicholls Cong. Orat. and Mr Jean Khoury.
